Delete PDF pages

Delete pages from a PDF for free in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Type the numbers of the pages to remove, or remove them one at a time from their thumbnails, then save; the pages you keep come through unchanged.

Drop a PDF, choose the pages to remove, then save. The pages you keep are copied into the new file as they are, not redrawn.

What happens to the pages you remove

Delete PDF pages is Organize PDF pages with removal put first. A box above the grid takes the numbers of the pages to drop, as single pages and ranges, and every thumbnail keeps its own × for taking pages out one at a time. The numbers are the ones on the cards, which close up after each removal, so type the whole list in one go when you can.

The pages you keep are not redrawn: pdf-lib copies them into a new document with their text, fonts and images as they were. Before you save, the summary lists the removed pages by their numbers in the original document, which is the easiest place to catch a wrong one.

Who it is for

Limits
  • At least one page must remain.
  • Undo takes back only the last change; Back to the original order restores every page.
  • A removed page that a kept page links to can stay inside the file, unseen.
  • Bookmarks and the document's title and author are not copied into the new file.
Privacy
The document is read and rewritten in your browser, so neither the PDF nor the pages you remove are ever uploaded.

How to delete pages from a PDF

  1. Open the PDF Drop one PDF on the page. Each page becomes a numbered card with a thumbnail, so you can see which ones should go before you remove anything.
  2. Type the pages to remove In the Pages to remove box above the grid, enter the numbers shown on the cards, such as 2-4, 9 or 12- for page 12 to the end, and press Remove pages or Enter.
  3. Or take them out one by one Press the × under a thumbnail to remove that page alone. The remaining cards renumber, and Undo takes back the last change, so a page you have just removed comes straight back.
  4. Save the shorter PDF Check the list of removed pages under What will be written, which gives each by its number in the original, then press Save PDF. The pages you kept download as a new file.

Delete PDF pages: common questions

Can I delete several pages at once?

Yes. Type single pages and ranges into the box above the grid, such as 1, 5-8, 12, and press Remove pages. They go in one step, and one Undo brings them all back.

Can I get a deleted page back?

Before you save, Undo takes back your last change, which brings back a page you have just removed, and Back to the original order restores every page. Your original file is never changed, so it still has them all.

What if I try to remove every page?

The tool refuses, because a PDF needs at least one page. Leave one in place, or press Clear to put the document away.

Is a deleted page gone from the file for good?

Usually. The new PDF is built from the pages you keep and what they refer to, so a removed page is left out. The exception is a page that a kept page links to, as a clickable table of contents can: it may stay inside the file unseen, so do not rely on this to hide confidential pages.
