Contact sheet

Contact sheet lays up to 72 images out as a numbered proof sheet — every frame printed small and in order, with its filename beneath it. Pages are A4, Letter, square or a custom pixel size, with the presets sized for 150 dpi so a printed sheet comes out at the size its name claims, and you set 2 to 8 columns, the margin, the gutter and an optional sheet title. When the frames outrun one page the grid restarts on the next, and the download is one PNG or JPEG per page, zipped when there is more than one.

How it works

  1. Add the frames Drop images. They print in the order they were added and are numbered from 01, up to 72 per sheet.
  2. Choose the page and columns Pick A4, Letter, square or a custom pixel size, then set the number of columns from 2 to 8. The number of rows follows from the page height.
  3. Set the spacing and labels Adjust the margin around the grid and the gutter between frames, type a sheet title to print at the top of every page, and turn the filename line and the dimensions-and-size line on or off.
  4. Step through the pages The preview shows one page at a time. If the frames run to more than one page, use the pager beneath it to check each one.
  5. Download the sheet Choose PNG or JPEG and press "Download sheet". A single page saves as one image; several pages save as a ZIP with the pages numbered.

Questions

How many images fit on a contact sheet?
The tool holds at most 72 images. How many land on each page depends on the column count and page size — the grid restarts at the top of a new page when it runs out of room, and the page number is printed in the bottom margin, which the grid never uses.
What happens to long filenames?
Each label is measured against the font it will be drawn in and cut with an ellipsis if it does not fit, so a name can never overprint the next column. It is printed under the frame with a two-digit frame number in front of it.
Does it export a PDF?
No. Contact sheet writes PNG or JPEG only, one image per page. The A4 and Letter presets are 1240 × 1754 and 1275 × 1650 pixels, which is their physical size at 150 dpi, so the images print correctly — send them through the images-to-PDF tool if you need a single PDF.
