Watermark PDF

Watermark PDF stamps text across the pages of a document. The words, size, colour, opacity and rotation are yours to set, and the position is either one of nine points on the page or the full diagonal. The text is drawn with an embedded standard font on top of the existing page, so nothing underneath is altered or re-encoded, and the preview is the page you will get.

How it works

  1. Open the PDF Drop the file onto the page. The current page renders as a live preview.
  2. Type the watermark Set the words, then the size, colour and opacity. The preview updates as you change them.
  3. Place it Pick one of nine positions or the page diagonal, and set the angle and margin.
  4. Choose the pages Every page, or a range you type.
  5. Save The text is drawn onto the chosen pages and the document is handed back.

Questions

Can a watermark added here be removed again?
Yes, by someone who wants to. The text is drawn as a normal content object on the page, so a PDF editor can select and delete it. This is a visible mark of ownership rather than a security measure, and no browser tool can make it one.
Why can I not use certain characters?
The standard PDF fonts are WinAnsi-encoded and cannot draw most non-Latin text. Using a character outside that set would need a font file embedded in the document, so the tool tells you which character is the problem rather than writing a broken file.
Does the watermark change the text underneath?
No. It is drawn on top as a separate object, so the original content is untouched and still selectable. Nothing on the page is rasterised or re-encoded.
