In detail

Collage arranges up to 12 images on one canvas in a grid, row, column or mosaic layout. Cells either cover their space and crop the overflow, or contain the whole image with the background color showing around it; neither option stretches an image.

You set the gap, the outer padding and the exact canvas width and height in pixels, drag the tiles to reorder them, and export PNG, WebP or JPEG. In the mosaic layout the first image takes the large cell, so drag your best photo to the front.

How to make a photo collage

  1. Add the images Drop two or more images. A collage holds at most 12; anything past that is left out and the tool tells you how many.
  2. Pick a layout Choose grid, row, column or mosaic. Mosaic gives the first image the large hero cell, so drag a tile to the front of the strip to decide which one leads.
  3. Set the spacing and the fit Adjust the gap between cells and the outer padding, choose cover or contain for how each image sits in its cell, and pick the background color that fills the gaps and the padding.
  4. Set the canvas size Type a width and height, from 16 up to 12000 pixels. Press "Fit to the layout" to go back to the size suggested from the images you added.
  5. Download the collage Choose PNG, WebP or JPEG, set the quality if the format is lossy, and press "Download collage".

Photo collage maker: common questions

How many images can one collage hold?

Twelve. Every image is decoded and kept in memory so the preview can be redrawn live as you change a setting, so the tool caps at 12 and warns you when a drop would go over. For more than that, make more than one collage.

Does a collage stretch my images?

No. Cover crops the source symmetrically to fill its cell, and contain fits the whole image inside the cell with the background color around it. Both keep the original aspect ratio.

What canvas size should I use?

The suggested size follows the average size of the images you added, capped at 4000 pixels on the long edge, so a collage of 800 px photos does not come back as a 6000 px canvas of invented pixels. Above about 40 megapixels the tool warns that encoding will take a moment and a low-memory device may refuse it.
